About Us

A Tradition of Service in Western New York.

We have a proud history of being an organization in the  Allegany County community since 1923. Originally founded as the Soldiers and Sailors Memorial Hospital, we were established to bring quality healthcare to rural families in Western New York.

In 1925, we incorporated as Cuba Memorial Hospital, Inc. — a non-profit organization governed by a volunteer board of trustees. Over the decades, CMH has evolved to meet changing community needs, becoming a designated Critical Access Hospital in 1997.

What is a Critical Access Hospital?

A Critical Access Hospital (CAH) is a special designation by the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services that supports rural hospitals with limited beds. CAHs must maintain no more than 25 inpatient beds and provide 24/7 emergency and acute care services.

This designation enables Cuba Memorial Hospital to focus on the services most needed in our community — such as urgent care, rehabilitation, long-term care, and inpatient treatment — while receiving financial support to keep healthcare local.

Our Mission, Our Vision

Rooted in Community, Focused on You.

"To serve your healthcare needs."

"To be a trusted, accessible, and focused pillar of our community."

As a nonprofit, Cuba Memorial Hospital reinvests in care, technology, and services that put our patients and community first.

Our dedicated team delivers compassionate, quality healthcare—right here, close to home.

Affiliations & Community Impact

Bringing Comprehensive Care to Our Region.

We are partnered with the Upper Allegheny Health System to provide walk-in laboratory services and facilitate patient transfers when higher levels of care are required.

We serve patients from Cuba, Friendship, Belfast, Portville, and the surrounding rural areas, remaining a vital resource for those who prefer to receive care close to home.
